Tony Robbins’ biography
A difficult start
He was born in North Hollywood, California. He is the eldest of his two brothers: Marcus and Tara Robbins. His parents separated when he was just seven years old; staying only with his brothers and mother, the latter being a drug addict and alcoholic, by the time Tony Robbins was a teenager.
He also had repeated marriages, and his vices did not make things easier for our character at all, because his bad habits constantly caused him problems at home, reaching the point of threatening his own son with a knife.
The poor structure and family environment that engulfed Tony led to strong conflicts and self-esteem problems during his childhood and adolescence; however, this same pain would drive him to eradicate the suffering of others, for his belief system began to haunt around teaching others to overcome his past, just as he did over the course of his life.
Over time, Tony Robbins’ responsibility began to grow larger, as he had to keep his mother stable and protect his siblings from her at the same time, so he had to learn to mature quickly. He loved books, and it didn’t take long for him to start obsessing about learning, because he realized that this was what gave him the tools he needed, not only to change himself, but to be able to change others.
Our protagonist studied high school at Glendora High School. By then, his leadership skills were already beginning to express himself in his life naturally, because during his later years of study, he became elected as president of the student group. Over time, Tony Robbins would also begin to develop skills to deal with people, basing his strategies mostly on the ideas raised by author Dale Carnegie in his book: How to Win Friends and Influence People.
Tony Robbins’ quest for an extraordinary life
Our main character would start working at a young age in a maintenance company to financially help his family. He wouldn’t last long in this job, because by the age of 17, he had a strong fight with his mother, who ended up having our protagonist come out the front door of his house, never to return.
This would be a difficult time for our entrepreneur since he began working as a janitor without any hint of being able to change his destiny and give him a different course in his life; or so he believed until a friend let him know of a famous speaker at the time: Jim Rohn.
Tony’s friend assured him by then that the speaker was able to offer in just a few hours of seminary, knowledge that would take years of experience to gain; he couldn’t wait to corroborate the information, so he attended one of his seminars, and from that moment on, our character’s life wouldn’t be the same.
At the end of the seminary, Tony Robbins approached Jim Rohn in order to continue learning from the great speaker, and thanks to his avid interest, and the fact that Jim Rohn saw something in the eyes of our entrepreneur, he ended up working for the speaker who called his interest; this was his first mentor, and would help him realize his career path.
It’s right now, where Tony’s life starts to take a 180-degree turn. He begins selling the seminars of Jim Rohn, who does not hesitate at any time to teach him all his strategies and principles for excellence and success. He began to succeed in sales, and after a while, after developing a solid knowledge base, he decided it was time to start selling his own seminars.
It should be noted that Tony Robbins never went to college; however, he always sought good training and skills, as during his journey to success, he began to develop tools such as neurolinguistic programming techniques (NLP), Ericksonian hypnosis and executive coaching.
Laying the foundation for something great
Tony Robbins then began traveling with his van across the United States, doing and recording his little seminars. At first, he made them for free, because he knew he had to make himself known and start fishing with people in some way.
After a while, he would start charging his audience only if his sessions offered him results in their lives. At that moment, success begins to knock on Tony’s door, allowing him to build a personal brand, which would gradually begin to take traction and climb. Our entrepreneur had a clear vision of what his life was going to be like, and he was working hard to make it happen.
Many more people began to welcome Tony with open arms, and thanks to the experience he gained during his travels, he made his first book, which would be a resounding success and open many doors to him; making him a well-known character in the United States. Our protagonist was really starting to change people’s lives.
Soon, between the 1980s and 1990s, Anthony Robbins’ name would begin to resonate on audio, television and conference tapes, reaching more than 100 million people, not only from the United States but also from the world.
His path was not easy, in fact, during the creation of his empire, a partner took all the money from his business, leaving him extremely indebted and with many problems to solve. Despite this, our entrepreneur would begin to develop new strategies and ways to carry out his projects, improving and reformulating his ventures.
Today, Tony Robbins has founded more than a dozen companies, and has invested in many other companies; from those engaged in the development of virtual reality, to those that are foundations that seek to eradicate hunger in the world.
Thanks to his endeavors which have helped more than 50 million people in over 100 countries around the world in recent years with its audio and video programs, while another four million have attended their live seminars, even though their price is more than $4,000.
There is no doubt that Tony Robbins is the perfect example of the results that a life dedicated to achieving the highest standards can achieve.
